General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)
As you may be aware, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) came into force on 25th May 2018.
These regulations affect how organisations collect, handle, and store personal data.
As a sporting organisation that collects and maintains member information, Wado Kokusai Suzuki-ha Karate-do Ireland (WKKI) has reviewed its Data Protection Policy to ensure full GDPR compliance.

- WKKI will never share membersโ details with any unauthorised third party or organisation.
- Access to member data is strictly limited to relevant WKKI personnel.
- All personal data is stored securely at all times.
- In the event of a data breach, WKKI will notify the Data Protection Commissioner and cooperate fully with any investigation.
- WKKI only collects data that is relevant and necessary.

For all members:
- Name
- Address
- Date of Birth
- Telephone Number
- Belt Grade
For senior grades and instructors, we may also collect:
- Coaching Certification
- First Aid Certification
- Garda Vetting
- Safeguarding Qualifications
- Referee Qualifications
๐ก Sharing of Data
WKKI is a member of O.N.A.K.A.I., the national governing body for Karate in Ireland.
As part of our membership, we are required to share relevant member details.
We have received assurance that O.N.A.K.A.I. is fully GDPR compliant.

From time to time, WKKI may contact you via email to inform you about:
- Club activities and training
- Upcoming events
- News and updates related to WKKI or Karate
These are not considered marketing emails, but relevant member communications.
Some clubs may also use WhatsApp groups to relay timely information such as schedule changes or venue updates.

If you do not wish to receive emails or other communications, please let us know and we will promptly remove you from all relevant contact lists.
